U13 - ROTE TEUFEL

Bad Nauheim is a town close to Frankfurt (the one with the airport). It was being occupied by American Soldiers in spring 1945. With them Ice hockey came to Bad Nauheim. The town commander Colonel Knight was a real sportsman and had a hockey rink built in 1946. This rink, the “Colonel-Knight-Stadium” is used ever since. Up until now it is an open air rink, but nowadays with a roof.

The professional team is playing in the second highest league in Germany. The U13 plays in Nordrhein-Westfalen in the Regionalliga B. Currently it is the leading team there. Additionally, they are playing the Hessenliga, together with five other teams from Hessen. They played in three other tournaments in this season in Dresden, Mannheim and Zell am See (Österreich). Their coach Martin Lamich has played for the Czech U20 National team and in the West Coast Hockey League in the USA. He is coaching in Bad Nauheim since 2020. Ice hockey has many fans, friends and supporters in Bad Nauheim. Many kids in the region try at one point in their life to skate for the Rote Teufel or they cheer for the professional team as a real fan. Bad Nauheim is also very proud that Elvis Presley was stationed here during his service for the American Army from 1958 to 1960, even he only got famous for his music and wasn’t into ice hockey.
